BANC
Council
BANC is a UK-registered charity, governed by a Council of
elected (and, exceptionally, co-opted) members. Elections are held
annually at the Annual General Meeting. All BANC members are entitled
to stand for office and Council and to vote. An annual report and
independently-audited accounts are submitted to the Commissioner for
Charities.
Officers
Chair - Diana
Pound
A BANC member since 1981 and a Council member for two years, Diana is
focussing on giving BANC fresh momentum and increased membership. With
a background in environmental science and landscape ecology and a
25-year career in natural resource management, she runs her own
consultancy to design and facilitate stakeholder dialogues that result
in better management of the natural environment. Diana works mainly in
the UK, but also in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Secretary -
Graeme
Duckworth
Graeme worked in IT in the City for 17 years until he came to his
senses and studied for an MSc in Conservation at UCL in 2005-6. He's
been a BANC member for two years and is also our webmaster. Mindful of
BANC's honourable role and valuable ‘franchise’ in
conservation, Graeme will help enhance BANC’s products and
profile, especially through the web site. He loves birdwatching and
wandering about in rainforest, if his kids would let him.
Treasurer -
Derek
Bensley
Past Treasurer of the Northamptonshire Wildlife Trust, Derek is
also Treasurer of the Mammal Society and of Flora &
Fauna International.
