BANC Annual General Meeting 2007

This year's AGM will take place on 13th October at The Bustard Inn, near Shrewton, Wiltshire, between 12 noon and 1pm.  The meeting will be followed by a guided visit to the Great Bustard re-introduction project's nearby release site on Salisbury Plain.  All BANC members are invited to attend.  Details for attending the event are provided below.

The AGM is important!  There BANC's financial accounts are validated and its Council is elected.  If you plan to attend, please inform Graeme Duckworth at graeme.duckworth@gmail.com.

Please consider standing for BANC's Council.  It is made up of volunteer members who give their time (four meetings per year, plus three to four days of other work) to ensure that BANC fulfils its charitable aims.  It is a legal and practical necessity - BANC cannot function and develop without it. BANC particularly needs people with knowledge/skills in the following areas: fund-raising, marketing and business management.  If you would like to know more about serving on Council, please contact Pippa Langford at pippa.langford@naturalengland.org.uk

BANC members wishing stand for Council should submit their name and contact details, together with a brief supporting statement (roughly 50 words) and the name of a proposer, who must also be a BANC member. Please send nominations by Friday 14th September 2007 to Graeme Duckworth at graeme.duckworth@gmail.com.

Travel Details

The Bustard Inn is in a somewhat remote location on Salisbury Plain. Its National Grid reference is SU091461 and its OS Grid reference is 409104, 145958.

For those travelling by car, use The AA's Route Planner, specifying The Bustard Inn's post code, SP3 4DU, as the destination.

For those travelling by rail, please advise Graeme Duckworth and we will arrange outward and return lifts for you from/to either Salisbury or Pewsey stations (and between The Bustard Inn and the release site). If you are travelling from London, the ideal train to catch on Saturday morning is the 9:50am from London Waterloo, arriving at Salisbury at 11:18am. Unfortunately there is no convenient train from London Paddington to Pewsey on Saturday morning (the best being the 8:18am, arriving 9:28am). These details were sourced from National Rail Enquiries.

N.B. The location of the Great Bustards' release site is secret, but it is a short car journey from The Bustard Inn.
